Oil on sculpted limestone,
wood relief
Bambi is born from Thierry’s reflections on raw beauty and ancient craftsmanship. Inspired by his visit to the Quai Branly Museum in France, where the tactile strength of African cultural treasures left a lasting impression, this piece brings together sculpted limestone and wood in an instinctive, almost ritualistic composition.
The delicate motif across the surface evokes the soft, dappled pattern of a young fawn’s coat — a subtle nod to the piece’s name — blending strength and tenderness in a single gesture.
“The artifacts I saw felt imperfect and eternal, alive with memory. In Bambi, I wanted to capture that feeling — something that holds both resilience and vulnerability at once.”
