Clay,
Wood Relief
A collaborative series by Thierry and Margot, Urban Figures is a constellation of nine sculptural compositions that explore the poetics of cityscapes.
Inspired by the abstract volumes of Ben Nicholson, each relief distills the essence of urban architecture into softened silhouettes—wood forms cut, shaped, and composed on clay-covered panels to blur the line between structure and shadow.
While each piece carries its own quiet identity, together they form a rhythmic skyline—an imagined metropolis rendered in tone and texture. The set evokes the stillness of buildings at dawn, the harmony of lines meeting sky, and the unexpected gentleness found in the geometry of everyday surroundings.
“Urban Figures was our way of softening the skyline—of finding lyricism in architecture’s strict lines.”
